Date: 15.12.2023

Ahrensburg, 15/12/2023 — Alternative Mobility GmbH, a pioneering German company specializing in electrifying public transportation, has achieved a remarkable victory in Taiwan's prestigious 2023 Call for Solutions, Green Transitions for Industrial Cities. This competition, initiated by the Taiwan Government and coordinated by the International Climate and Environment Institute (ICEI), positions Alternative Mobility GmbH as the undisputed winner in this global call, establishing EMobility and the transition of vehicles from diesel to electric as the best practice and solution for industrial cities.

Background of the Call for Solutions:

As the world embarks on the transition to net-zero emissions, innovative approaches to international cooperation, as highlighted in the Paris Agreement, are gradually taking shape. The Agreement calls for broad cooperation by all countries to meet global reduction targets, and Taiwan is eager to cooperate with international partners to jointly achieve net-zero transition, mobilize global climate action, and ensure a sustainable environment for future generations.

Taiwan, as the world's 21st-largest economy, wields significant influence on economic prosperity and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. Notably, Taiwan's semiconductor industry holds a pivotal position in international supply chains, actively reducing energy resource usage in its production processes through the development of new technologies and models. It has leveraged semiconductor innovations to create smart electronic applications and promote global energy conservation. In light of these developments, the call for applications was open to international private and state companies.

The Call for Solutions:

The esteemed "Green Transitions for Industrial Cities" Call for Applications, jointly issued by ICEI and the City Authority of Kaohsiung in Taiwan, attracted submissions from companies worldwide, both from the public and private sectors. This call aimed to solicit visionary urban strategies, solutions, and partnerships that harness technology, governance, and innovative business models to promote environmentally conscious living while fostering harmony with the natural surroundings. Its specific objective was to drive the adoption of intelligent, adaptable, and pragmatic solutions to ensure a greener tomorrow for all.

Furthermore, outstanding proposals and winners from this competition will be invited to showcase their achievements to the world at the 2024 City Climate Summit (City COP) and the Kaohsiung Smart City Summit & Expo (SCSE). Additionally, the outstanding proposals will have the opportunity to collaborate with the Kaohsiung City Government for implementation.

The Significance of the Achievement:

In a highly competitive landscape featuring formidable applicants from around the globe, Alternative Mobility's submission stood out for its ingenious proposal to champion green living and elevate lifestyles through low-carbon transport and electrified mobility solutions in Taiwan's vital harbor and international trade hub, Kaohsiung.

The results of the Call for Applications were officially unveiled during COP28 in Dubai on December 8, 2023, further solidifying the significance of this achievement on the global stage.
